**Do we ignore the ‘soft skills’ in Finance because we find them harder to attain? **

Technical skills alone will not make us great leaders. The best accountant or controller does not become the CFO – it’s the best team builder and communicator that leaps ahead.

We need to know how to build teams, empathise with individuals, be competent at communicating effectively and unafraid to show vulnerability.

Circumstances help to define great leaders and they value the opinions of others.

These were some of the great remarks from the conversation with Jack McCullough for the  series "#GlobalLeadershipHypothesis – what makes a great leader?" are:

Some of the other key themes & insights:

❇️Great leader traits - transparency, focus, humility,
compassion

❇️ Start = a true self-assessment with trusted allies

❇️ Know what you are passionate about and good at

❇️ Learn to present financials in an interesting way

❇️Ineffective communication holds leaders back

❇️ Inspire teams and individuals to be better versions
of themselves

❇️ Adaptability and flexibility in changing environments

❇️Leadership failure = being the smartest person in the
room, not inviting challenge and making no mistakes
